My Top Pregnancy and Parenting Podcast Recommendations

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably realised that while your hands are constantly full, your brain is often craving a bit of "adult" input. Whether I’m folding endless piles of laundry, cooking dinner or finally getting a quiet moment at the end of the day, playing Mahjong Match on my phone, podcasts have become my lifeline.

I love listening to podcasts, and these are all shows I’ve binged and really love. They’ve helped me navigate everything from those first blurry weeks of pregnancy to the "why-is-this-happening" toddler years.

If you’re looking to fill your ears with something insightful, helpful, or just plain funny, here is my curated list:

Save these for later…

I’ve created a handy graphic with pictures of all these podcasts so you can save it directly to your phone! No need to go searching for titles when you finally have five minutes of peace.

Just fill in your name and email below, and I’ll send the graphic straight to your inbox!

Pregnancy

Navigating pregnancy can feel like a full-time job of Googling symptoms and figuring out all the choices you have to make about your birth and the arrival of your baby. These shows take the guesswork out of it:

  • The Great Birth Rebellion: A deeply evidence-based podcast that challenges systemic birth practices and encourages women to reclaim their autonomy.

  • Australian Birth Stories: A collection of honest, first-hand accounts from women detailing their unique journeys through conception, birth, and postpartum.

  • Hello Bump: A week-by-week guide to pregnancy that blends practical medical insights with real-talk about the bodily changes you aren't always warned about.

  • Learning to Mom (Season 1): Specifically designed for first-time mothers to provide expert advice on pregnancy and birth without the overwhelming "information overload."

  • Birth Baby and Beyond: Hosted by Midwife Cath, this show offers decades of professional wisdom to guide parents through the logistics of birth and the first weeks of parenthood.

Caring for Babies & Toddlers

When you’re in the thick of the "how do I do this?" phase, these are my go-to podcasts:

  • Learning to Mom (Season 2 & 3): Focuses on the "how-to" of early motherhood, covering everything from gut health to nursery transitions.

  • Toddlers Made Easy: Pediatrician-led advice aimed at simplifying the "terrible twos" and beyond with actionable strategies for common behavioural hurdles.

  • Boob to Food: A go-to resource for navigating the transition to solids, offering nutritional expertise and practical tips for raising adventurous eaters.

Respectful Parenting

These podcasts have completely changed how I view "discipline" and connection:

  • Robot Unicorn: Explores the science of child development and brain biology to help parents understand the "why" behind impulsive behaviours.

  • Unruffled: Hosted by Janet Lansbury, this podcast provides a calm, respectful approach to setting boundaries while honouring a child's emotions.

  • Good Inside: Dr. Becky Kennedy focuses on "sturdy parenting," teaching you how to stay connected to your child even during the toughest behavioural moments.

Montessori

I have been raising Maddie with the Montessori philosophy since birth and these podcasts are a wealth of information:

  • Montessori Babies: Breaks down the Montessori philosophy for the infant stage, focusing on environment setup and developmental materials for the first year.

  • Montessori Moms in the Wild: Three trained Montessori guides discuss the reality of applying the method at home while navigating the messiness of actual parenting.

  • The Montessori Notebook: Practical tips from Simone Davies on how to incorporate Montessori principles into your home and daily rhythms to foster independence.

A Little Comedy

Because if we don't laugh, we'll cry, right?

  • The Baby Bubble: A lighthearted look at the "fog" of new parenthood, sharing the hilarious and sometimes absurd realities of life with a newborn.

  • Parenting Out Loud: A culture-savvy show that breaks down the latest parenting trends and "MumTok" conversations with plenty of wit and zero sugar-coating.

  • Two Doting Dads: Two fathers share their perspectives on the chaos of raising kids, proving that dads are just as much in the thick of it (and just as confused) as everyone else.

I’m always on the hunt for my next binge-listen! Feel free to send me a DM on Instagram or email me at hello@mummavalerie.com.au if you have any more podcast recommendations. I would love to hear what's currently in your ears!
