I’m a parent educator, primary school teacher, content creator and mumma to two beautiful little humans, Maddie and Ollie. I am passionate about helping parents move away from chaotic, reactive parenting toward a parenting style rooted in respect, trust, and connection.

My parenting beliefs:

Children are whole, competent individuals with a natural drive to explore, learn, and think for themselves.

True cooperation comes from a deep, respectful relationship rather than forced obedience and strict control.

Parenting does not have to be chaotic by default, and that simple spaces and gentle rhythms make parenting a lot more joyful.

My path here wasn’t exactly linear. While I was completing my Bachelor of Science, I took a side job teaching dance to children. I realised then just how much I loved working with kids.

I kept going down the academic track and ended up halfway through a PhD in Biochemistry. But sitting in a lab, I knew that it just wasn't for me. I was craving something more tangible, something where I could see the real, human impact of my work every single day. So, I followed my heart and went back to university to get my Master’s in Education.

Throughout my university degrees, I immersed myself in various settings where I got to work with children. I spent three years as a childcare educator, six years as a youth Scout leader, and eventually stepped into my role as a primary school teacher in 2020.

Across all these experiences, one thing became crystal clear to me: that children are not empty vessels waiting to be told what to do. They don't thrive under constant micromanagement. They thrive when we give them the space to explore, fail, and make sense of the world on their own. They are so incredibly capable; we just have to step back enough to see it.

Then, in 2024, my world completely changed when I had my daughter, Maddie. Just 19 months later, our little boy Ollie joined the family. While I had learned about the Montessori philosophy during my university degrees, it wasn't until I became a mum myself that it really resonated with me. I always knew that I wanted to parent differently from the traditional, authoritarian parenting style many of us grew up with.

From the moment I fell pregnant with Maddie, I spent practically all my waking hours diving down the rabbit hole of the Montessori philosophy, child development and neuroscience, and respectful parenting. I read every book, listened to every podcast, and enrolled in every course I could get my hands on.

What I share with you isn't just a rigid set of rules and strategies. It’s a relationship-first framework built from years of professional teaching, scientific research, and the daily, beautiful, messy reality of raising my own two little ones. I'm just another mum friend in the trenches with you, helping you clear out the noise so you can parent from a place of calm connection.

How I got into parent education

The 5Rs Framework

I created the 5Rs Framework for Joyful Parenting to help parents find more joy and calm in their everyday parenting. Think of it like a table in your home:

Relationship is the steady tabletop where all your shared moments happen. To maintain a strong and secure relationship with our children, we need four strong legs—Respect, Relate, Relinquish, and Repair.

1. Relationship: At the end of the day, your connection with your child matters so much more than strict obedience or checking off milestones, and when that bond is strong, parenting becomes a lot easier.

2. Respect: Our little ones don't need to grow up to earn our respect; they deserve it from day one as whole, capable individuals with their own valid feelings and bodily autonomy.

3. Relate: This is all about looking at those big toddler meltdowns through the lens of child development, so we can meet our kids with true empathy instead of frustration.

4. Relinquish: To relinquish means letting go of the urge to micromanage every little thing, stepping back so our kids actually have the room to struggle, problem-solve, and blossom.

5. Repair: We are human, and we will mess up, but saying an honest "I'm sorry" to our kids teaches them that mistakes are not the end of the world and that connection can always be healed.

Who I Am Offline

Outside of my corner of the Internet, I’m just a big kid at heart and love singing along to all the Disney songs and can’t wait to do duets with Maddie and Ollie. I have a wonderfully supportive husband, Patrick and an adorable but greedy corgi, Lumi. We are a huge foodie family and are always on the hunt for the next best place to eat.
